Hip dysplasia literally means "badly formed hip".   Hip dysplasia is a disease that affects development of the hip joint. It is brought on by a laxity of the muscles, connective tissue, and ligaments that are there to support the joint. Subluxation can effect the nerves that power the muscles that provide this support. True hip dysplasia can be diagnosed by X-ray.

Figure 1 is showing a normal hip joint in a canine. Figure 2 is a picture of a dog with hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is most often seen in large breed dogs such as Labs and German shepards but has been recognized in over 82 breeds of dogs.

If your canine is showing any of these signs it could be due to unalignment of the vertebrae and chiropractic care could be the answer. Call us to schedule an appointment 281- 681- 2677.
